Introduction
Welcome to RxSnap — an AI-powered medicine information tool designed to help users identify medicines, check drug interactions, and understand medication details using publicly available health data and artificial intelligence.
RxSnap is not a medical device and is not intended to replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It is an informational tool only.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use RxSnap, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using RxSnap, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
We are committed to minimizing data collection. Here is exactly what RxSnap collects:
Medicine Images
When you upload a photo of a medicine, that image is transmitted securely to our server for processing. Images are processed in real-time in memory and are never written to disk or stored permanently on our servers.
Health Conditions
If you optionally declare health conditions (e.g. High BP, Diabetes) to enable personalized interaction flags, those selections are stored locally in your browser only as part of your Family Profiles. They are not transmitted to our servers independently.
Scan History
The results of your medicine scans (medicine name, dosage, manufacturer, etc.) are stored in the application's local database to power the Medicine Cabinet feature. This history can be deleted by you at any time from within the app.
What We Do NOT Collect
- No account creation or login is required
- No name, email address, or personal identity is collected from end users
- No device identifiers or tracking cookies
- No payment information
- No location data
How We Use Your Information
Medicine Image Processing
Uploaded medicine images are sent to the Anthropic Claude API (a third-party AI service) solely for the purpose of identifying the medicine in the image. The image is not stored by us after processing is complete.
Drug & Safety Data
Medicine names identified by AI are used to query the OpenFDA API — a public database maintained by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration — to retrieve safety information including warnings, adverse reactions, and contraindications.
What We Never Do
- No selling of data: Your images or health information are never sold to third parties
- No advertising targeting: We do not use your data for advertising purposes
- No profiling: We do not build personal profiles from your usage
- No sharing: Health data is never shared with insurance companies, employers, or data brokers
API Usage Logs
For B2B API partners, usage logs record the medicine name and timestamp of each API call for billing and rate-limiting purposes. These logs contain no personal data about end users.
B2B API Partners
RxSnap offers a licensed API for businesses (healthcare apps, pharmacy platforms, etc.) to integrate medicine identification and drug interaction features into their own products.
What We Track for Partners
- API key usage counts and monthly totals (for billing and rate limiting)
- Endpoint called and medicine name resolved (for usage logs, retained 90 days)
- Client name and email provided at key registration
Partner Responsibilities
- Partners are fully responsible for their own users' privacy and must maintain their own compliant privacy policies
- RxSnap does not receive, process, or store the personal data of a partner's end users
- Partners must not use the API to process data in violation of applicable health data laws (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.)
Data Storage & Retention
- Medicine images: Processed entirely in memory. Never written to disk. Discarded immediately after the AI response is returned.
- Scan history: Stored in the application's SQLite database. Retained indefinitely until you delete it. You can delete individual scans or full profiles from within the app at any time.
- Family profiles & conditions: Stored in the application database, linked to your session. Deleted when you delete the profile.
- API usage logs: Retained for 90 days for billing and abuse prevention purposes, then automatically purged.
- API keys: Stored until deactivated by an administrator. Deactivated keys are retained (inactive) for audit purposes.
Third Party Services
RxSnap relies on the following third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data:
| Service | Purpose | Data Sent |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic Claude API | AI vision and language processing for medicine identification and drug interaction analysis | Medicine image (base64), medicine name, dosage |
| OpenFDA API | Public U.S. drug label database for safety warnings, adverse reactions, and contraindications | Medicine brand name (query only) |
| Railway | Cloud hosting and infrastructure | Standard server request logs (IP, timestamp) |

We do not use analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics), advertising networks, or social media tracking pixels.
Children's Privacy
RxSnap is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from minors.
If you believe that a child under 13 has submitted data through RxSnap, please contact us immediately at privacy@rxsnap.app and we will take steps to remove that information.
